A new cover artwork for the ongoing fantasy/scifi novel series " Die Reisenden" by Alexander Horycki. It' s my third in the series after Das Erbe Agratars and Die Bibliothek der Alten, whose wraparound covers I also illustrated, and designed the cover typography. It' s such a nice classic scene in the nightly forest with a spirit being, that I enjoyed this painting immensely after a lot of fairly graphical game art pieces I did lately.
As always, based on the sketch, I posed figures in DAZ Studio, imported them into Blender for scenery and lighting, prepared a ref board for textures etc., and painted in Photoshop and Painter. I paint from scratch without using the render in the final at all, to make it gel together better.
