Imagine two worlds, the Magical and the Mundane, that have been separated from each other for millennia by a thin Veil. And then one day, the Veil is pulled down in a grasp for power... Two worlds collide. The people in those worlds are forever changed. Some battle for power and supremacy, others wall themselves off for safety, and still others find the common ground necessary to live together. The Veil is a book about what happens when these two worlds come together. A collection of stories, sketches, drawing and paintings from a group of travels looking to save the world they love.

Boris and Julie have rocked the art world for years. They are most well known for their powerful images of stoic warriors, beautiful amazons and fearsome monsters. Their exquisite use of color and texture elevate the imaginative realism of their works. Their works can be seen through out the fantasy and sci-fi illustration world. They have worked for virtually every major publishing house with a SFF line, and can be seen on album covers, comics, video game art, motion picture advertising, and my favorite annual calendar.

If you are a digital artist, there are a ton of options out there for you to experiment with, but ArtRage captured my attention a while back with I started seeing the images that Robh Ruppel was creating with it. Check out the "ArtRage 2" blog entry - the piece is a great study, but what I really like is what he wrote - "it's great if you want to train your eye and practice color matching the hard way." So when the folks at ArtRage contacted me about my potential interest at teaming up for an ArtOrder Challenge,
The challenge is pretty straight forward - create a image based upon the random set of cards you are assigned (details here). I suggest playing it straight. Joke concepts kind of dilute the usefulness of this resource - though doing a serious take on your card set isn't a requirement. There will be four categories that you can enter in, and you can enter one image per category.

I am looking for up to 4 artists to join my roster of artists doing limited edition “posters” for the ArtOrder store. I figured, what better way to find 4 artists that would like to participate in my “poster movement” than to have a ArtOrder Challenge around the concept - then everyone will have a great reason to do some personal work, and have the potential for turning it into something with some great potential.
After receiving a wonderful tiny painting from Jeremy Wilson, I was inspired to dream up a booth full of 3x3 paintings at SFAL. Wanna join the fun, have some images on display, or sell a few paintings? Then join me in this tiny little adventure! If we get more than 300 entries we'll set up member voting to help us choose which pieces to bring!
Spectrum Fantastic Art Live is May 9-11, 2014
I was never able to help Jeff get permission to create his art book when I was at Wizards of the Coast, and I would like to find a way to celebrate what he has contributed to our industry. I could only think of one way I could do that - through ArtOrder. Join me in paying homage to a man that directly influenced the fantasy illustration and gaming genre. Create an image that celebrates the man and his art. More Details.
