The longing of having someone with us, the sadness of being alone and feeling we shouldn' t have to. The low anger at them being so important to us that their absence hurts. The ever so slight need for revenge for their forgetting us, and our turning a cooling shoulder to reassure us of our independence.

During a caffeine rush I put down a dozen drawings in the same vein and am currently painting them. They are also part of a series of experimentation with mark-making and tools that I have come to call the Texture Quest. Here, I used silicone combs and masking fluid on an underpainting.
