Description
&ldquo Bastet&rdquo is an acrylic painting on a masonite wood panel, measuring 11&Prime x14&Prime . She was painted for the Rabbit Hole Artist Collective&rsquo s July 2016 auction, &ldquo Ancient Worlds&rdquo . The Egyptian cat goddess was originally worshipped as the daughter of the sun god, Ra. When the Greeks occupied Egypt, they sought to merge their own pantheon of gods/goddesses with the Egyptians&rsquo deities, and Bastet became associated with the Greek moon goddess, Artemis. Thus, I&rsquo ve painted Bastet with a dual sun & moon nature. :)
