Jessica Ross is an artist and freelance illustrator from Northern New Jersey. She studied fine art and illustration at Montclair State University, where she received her BFA. Her work is inspired by portraiture of the rococo period, pop surrealism, wildlife, and mental illness. She also has created content for games such as concept art, character design, and storyboards.
She prefers the smooth surfaces of hot press watercolor paper and recently, wood due to the smooth surface which allows her to draw intricate details. Watercolors and ink are her primary mediums, however she will also use colored pencil and acrylic paint.
Her work has been published in online art magazines such as K.O. Jewel and Condign Art Magazine where she won a front cover feature and a 3 page interview. She has recently exhibited in her first solo show at Biaggio’s Tattoo Gallery, “Fall Fantasy,” and participated in a group show at AJ Dillon Gallery’s Print Exhibition in Asbury Park, NJ.
Jessica is currently pursuing her MFA at Marywood University while teaching at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She continues to exhibit and create her surreal portraits.
