Melissa Sue Stanley Member Since December 2019 |
Melissa Sue Stanley is an artist in Chicago, IL - though she grew up in the field and forests further away from the city. The lush green and blue landscapes of Midwestern summers are the heart of what inspires her. Melissa’s work explores open fields and deep forests, finding small moments of magic and mystery hidden in the gardens and mossy environments. Her storytelling project, The Woolbeasts, discovers the denizens of these worlds. In addition, she creates fantastical moments of magic and mystery through delicate graphite drawings and watercolor paintings of witches and monsters of folklore. Currently she’s working on an oracle deck and a series of illustrations about her favorite witch, Baba Yaga. Melissa’s work can also be found in collaborative projects with her husband, Max, as they create beer labels and comics for local breweries. Melissa and Max also enjoy road trips, camping, and exploring city parks with Rocko the dog.
