Budget difficulties resulted in the City of Detroit turning over the day-to-day responsibility for the Detroit Historical Museum to the Detroit Historical Society, since January of 2006, I have acted as both a consulting Exhibit Designer and contract Graphic Designer doing much the same for them as I had previously done for the City of Detroit.

Responsible for exhibit graphics, visual appearance and design as well as exhibit installation, de-installation, repair and maintenance. Other responsibilities include museum signage, both interior and exterior, including street banners. Worked with education department to develop, research, write and design educational outreach teaching aids: curriculum guidebooks, posters & handouts, which in 1997 & 1998 won Gold medals for Quest for Excellence awards from the Michigan Museum Association for graphic design of educational outreach materials. Scanned and digital retouched photographs, paintings and other archival documents for use in exhibit design and general museum promotions. Created original illustrations for print and electronic media; both temporary & semi-permanent murals for exhibits. On both a PC and MAC system, worked with PageMaker 6.5, PhotoshopCS4, InDesignCS4, IllustratorCS4, and Microsoft Word; to a lesser degrees Excel, and PowerPoint. Supervised a staff of 3-5 semi-skilled and unskilled volunteers to assist with the installation, maintenance and removal of exhibits.

Amberzine, Phage Press, Detroit, MI.At the behest of publisher and previous editor, assumed the role of editor and art director to produce Amberzine. Phage Press has been among my freelance illustration clients since 1991, and in 2002 I was asked if I would edit an issue of its support magazine, Amberzine. Page count for this periodical is usually 160 pages but for its final issue had been increased to 512 pages. The final issue was published in the fall/winter of 2004/2005.
