The Art Order - Warriors and Amazons: A Tribute to Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell Judges

Allen Spiegel

Allen Spiegel has, for over 3 decades, worked with some of the artistic community’s most respected creators. He is the owner/operator of Allen Spiegel Fine Arts an artist/literary representative and publishing agency for illustrators, fine artists and writers. The talent he has worked with include: Thom Ang, August Hall, Phil Hale, Jeffrey Jones, Dave McKean, Scott Morse, Jon J Muth, Bonnie To Yee de Muth, George Pratt, Greg Ruth, Greg Spalenka, Jamie Tolagson, John Van Fleet, Kent Williams, and others.

Allen’s philosophy regarding his relationship with his creative partners is stated on his website www.allenspiegelfinearts.com as follows: There is no “big picture”; there is no end to the small pictures. We all hear the music, we all watch the movies. Only 24 hours in each day, only seven days per week. The ideas are endless; the restless need to go to a new place. Get comfortable but not stagnant. If I can help facilitate the time, place, and process that each creator needs to work in, if the work is revealed, if it gets to where it should go, then I'll get some sleep.

Allen has contracted projects with Abrams, BBC, Criterion, DC Entertainment, Donald Grant, Disney, Feiwel & Friends, Hachette, HarperCollins, Holtzbrinck, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Hyperion, IDW, Kodansha, Grand Central, Little Brown, Macmillan, Marvel Entertainment, NBM, Orbit, Penguin, Random House, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, Sterling, and Tor.

He has worked with: Evoke Gallery, Merry Karnowsky Gallery, R. Michelson Gallery, Rye Art Gallery and Nucleus Gallery.

Creatively Allen has co- written a short sequential story with Jon J Muth. Which Jon illustrated for his “Imaginary Magnitude” series published in the Japanese monthly AFTERNOON, by Kodansha. Allen also has a co-story credit with Dave McKean for the film LUNA. Which was directed and scripted by Dave McKean.
