This was created for the Xprize science fiction anthology released for World Ocean's Day. The story, written by Gu Shi and translated by Ken Liu, deals with a microbot technology designed to clean up oceans, taking its own path... I was so happy to receive the assignment because of how closely the story resembles my personal project! Made it a lot easier to create such a complex illustration in the time I had. I am also now the rights holder to the image as of 2020.
