Description
Part of my new personal body of work in which I am exploring and painting the many bizarre and wonderful yokai creatures from Japanese mythology. This piece is based on the kamikakushi story type, wherein people are suddenly whisked off to the yokai realm. Here we see the story just before a student is spirited away. She is visiting a temple to pray for better grades or perhaps luck in romance. As she is approaching the inner temple grounds she suddenly finds herself surrounded by yokai.
