This painting was created as a book cover for the author Midori Snyder’s ebook re-release of her Oran Trilogy, and titled after its respective volume in the trilogy. To create this cover, I combined digital images with an oil-painted (and digitally-tweaked) background. Pictured here is the villain of the story, a fire-magic-user queen. As the story progresses, she becomes more and more unhinged and obsessed with killing her rival. I wanted to depict here her descent into madness, via her final attack on the hero.
