Earlier this year, I helped form a company, Boneshaker Press, with a group of over 20 artists and we created our first art book, Encounters with the Imaginary. This painting was the piece I created to contribute to the book. While we've all heard stories of children raised by wolves, the feral sphinx was a child raised by cats. However wild she may be though, she has the insatiably sharp curiosity of a sphinx. Stories of a wild creature with the ability to move things with her mind, to change the landscape of the ocean even, have finally reached the ears of someone with the curiosity to match her own; a teacher with the offer of civilization and education.
