The electric scent of Nitrogen hangs like static. The afternoon is churning beneath the surface of pastoral greys. It flashes its teeth along the horizon. It growls low in the gut where you cannot hear the warning. She draws the sharp-clawed things to her, like pulling water from a stone. They spark and snap around her charge. Like any predator, she is crouched inside her skin, poised to pounce. She locks eyes with her prey. The clouds billow up behind her. The storm never passes.
