Maurizio is a professional illustrator living in Turin, Italy. Among his clients there are leading Italian and international publishers in the fantastic field: Mondadori, the Rizzoli and Espresso Groups, and overseas The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, Asimov' s SF, Analog, Putnam/ Berkley, Prime Books and Subterranean Press. During his career he has received many acknowledgement, including the Europe Award, the Premio Italia (twice) and the Chesley Award conferred by ASFA, The Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists. His digital paintings have been periodically chosen for annuals, such as Spectrum, The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art and Infected by Art. Recently he has been appointed Artist Guest of Honor for the Festivals: Lucca Comics & Games 2013, 2014, 2015 and Fantasy Basel 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021. In 2021 he has received the Lifetime Award of European Grand Master and has been nominated for a Hugo Award as Best Professional Artist.
