A painting I did for a couple of friends who own a game shop in Hamburg. It' s their 20th anniversary this year - last year while we stood on a convention, I asked if they would like a large painting, because I wanted to paint bigger but didn' t know where to put huge paintings. They said " sure" (I mean, what else are ya gonna say when painters ask if they can just give you art for free, right) and it just so coincided with their anniversary so I put in some extra effort. The black and white logo in the top right is the actual shop logo that I turned into this larger fantasy cityscape, the lower right map shows their location in Hamburg.
There was a time hiccup on my part when I thought six months was ample time and untypically for me, it took me a few months to get everything sorted out, decided on a surface etc., and then of course I fell ill and the party was just around the corner. I managed to finish it and bring it to Seven Towers Con in Rostock two weeks later, and got a laugh out of it by presenting my tiny colour study first, before the large painting.
This is 80× 80cm acrylics and ink on canvas. I used PhotoRaze, a free online tool, to help print out the drawing in pieces that I taped together. The buildings were constructed and lit in Blender. I used some retarder in the paints for the sea and sky to help with the gradients. It turned out that one of my paint buckets had the exact size of the small circular insets which made outlining them much easier.
Now I will obviously tell you that if you' re ever in Hamburg, to go visit them, because we may forget how useful knowledgable salespeople are in our modern online times, but any kind of game you need, they have: https://www.atlantis-hamburg.de/
