This was an interior illustration I created for the Heroes' Tears RPG. It serves as the chapter heading for the chapter on Putting the Group Together. All of the ch. heading illustrations were intended to appear as though somebody was actually in this fantasy environment, drawing what they saw. So, I was asked to create the images in a rough pen sketch style. In the book, there is a texture over the top of the drawings to make them appear as though they' re drawn on old weathered paper. For this drawing the description was just who was at a table in a tavern. I wanted to push the depth of the narrative though, and rather than simply showing the team, I wanted the team to be somewhat dysfunctional. I drew on my experiences from playing tabletop rpgs and decided to make one of the characters unbearably irritating. He' s tolerated perhaps because his role is a necessity to the team' s success.
