OSTARA - The Germanic Saxon goddess, the herald of Spring, the maiden from the triple aspect of women and the goddess- the maiden, mother and crone. She represents growth and rebirth after the sleep of Winter. Her name lives on as the Christian festival of Easter and she is associated with the fertility goddess Freya, symbolized by hares and rabbits, the fertile egg, new sprung flowers and foliage. The piece is sculpted in Silver and has masses of freshwater pearls, mixed gemstones and crystals. Below the goddess is an ammonite which I have chosen to symbolise the cycle of life, and her fertile branches grow from the naturally sourced juvenile rabbit skull (found in the wilds of Devon) that I have over sculpted, enamelled and encrusted with tiny Swarovski crystals.
