&ldquo Except for my mother, I never received anyone else' s love. The villagers showed only respect. When in need of advice they would turn to me - the old child - but there was always fear in their eyes. The same dread one experiences when extending a hand to a wild animal. They would never joke around with me, or give me a hug when I felt lonely.
But the spirits of the wildwood... they, never abandoned me. We spent countless afternoons playing together. They would make me laugh, and teach me new songs and tricks. They didn&rsquo t fear the gifts that death had bestowed upon me in return for an early departure.&rdquo ~ Kadiatou&rsquo s story is featured A Compendium of Witches, a project supported by my amazing Patreon community, and funded through Kickstarter
