I try to get some ethnic diversity into my artworks, as here in my recent acrylic sketch with limited palette. This lady was drawn without reference as part of a skill test to myself. I knew I wanted to use this palette starting out - raw umber and simply " violet" since mixing purple is honestly one of the messier things to do, I like a pre-made one that I can shift. I used palette knives for the background and probably lost track of my lighting plan a few times, partly due to working obsessively without standing up to take a look from further away without lamp glare in my eyes. Yes, my workplace needs some adjusting.
For the golden spatter, paper covered the painting wile I used a mouth atomizer, spraying gold hue ink straight from the bottle. I like how the droplets become larger further away when used at an angle. My paints are Daler-Rowney system 3 plus Lukas Cryl, and Rohrer& Klingner ink. Metallic media don' t scan all that well so this is more pretty in person.
