Description
Sometimes said to be the lover of Papa Bois, Mama Dglo is known as the &ldquo Mother of the Water&rdquo and is the center of one of the lesser-known tales. She is depicted as a nude woman with long, flowing hair but with the lower body of a large anaconda snake. Mama Dglo hates malicious hunters. Those who commit crimes against the forest can find themselves entangled by her tail and are forced to marry her, making them her personal playthings for all eternity. She is also known to transform virgins into mermaids and fairymaids as they become her servants. Sometimes she takes the form of a beautiful woman singing songs at the water&rsquo s edge.
