Description
This piece is an homage to the Goddess Demeter, the mother of beautiful Persephone, who braved the underworld to rescue her daughter from the God Hades. She is a summer goddess, and I have chosen brighter pearls and stones to represent this. Persephone is represented by red gems, a nod to her association with the pomegranate. Demeter' s association with the turning time of life is represented by the Ammonite of her head-dress, her association with summer by the foliage, wheat and flowers that scatter her form. The piece is embellished with mixed gems and freshwater pearls, and a shimmering Labrodorite that sits beneath her noble head.
