The German title equals to opaque, but is a wordplay between the words for thicket and gaze.
I first laid down some layers of drips and washes, painted the figure making ample use of cling film for texture, drew the triangles with an acrylic marker and added extra detail with stencils and dip pens. There is a small pile of fairly surreal figures I had drawn and want to see in full colour I treat it like a quest journey, trying to get the coolest textures out of the media I' m using. Sometimes when working loosely like this, I lose layers I liked previously, and I am often sad about it. But in the past I sometimes stopped working on a piece when I fell in love with a brushtroke or shadow and that deterred me from finishing it properly. No more, I say, all paintings get finished now.
