in some folklore a Mare, or a "Mara", is an evil entity that rides on people's chests while they sleep, bringing them bad dreams. as I drew it I had thought about a Night entity or a spirit, that rides and brings us good dreams and a night of good sleep. then the name Dream Mare came to my mind, imagining it blue, bright, positive one, instead of the dark, red, and burning - the Nightmare - her opposite, her relative perhaps.
