Udderlesque – Kamadhenu, 14”x 25.75” oil on board
In Hindu Mythology Kamadhenu was the divine cow and was believed to be the mother of all cows. She was the miraculous cow of plenty who could grant any wish to the true seeker and give her owner whatever he desired. Kamadhenu appeared on earth as one of the precious things that were brought to light in the “Churning of the Ocean”.
This is based on Jean August Dominique Ingres’ “La Grande Odalisque” (slave) painted in Rome in 1814. You will also find elements of Ingres’ later unfinished version “Odalisque Grisaille”.
